Celebrating 1,200+ trees planted in Morden Park

Our group returned to Morden Park this March to plant additional 400 tree saplings to the site with the valuable support from Merton Tree Wardens.

Merton Friends of the Earth and Merton Tree Wardens volunteers at Morden Park.

Merton FoE benefitted from The Woodland Trust’s programme supplying saplings for schools and community groups for free. The trees planted were part of Woodland Trust’s wildlife tree pack which includes a variety of species such as Hazel, Silver Birch, Rowan, English Oak, Sessile Oak and Blackthorn trees.

This was the third tree planting by Merton Friends of The Earth in Morden Park, with the total number planted now exceeding 1,200 trees.

Many people volunteered on the day including nine school boys from King’s College school and Liberal Democrat Councillor, Jennifer Gould, of Cannon Hill Ward, a strong advocate of protecting green spaces, representing Merton councillors.
